Crosette Shell
Crosette shells are shells that contain crosette stars. These cylindrical stars, when lit, will burn for a moment and then split into exactly three or four even burning pieces. This effect looks spectacular in the sky, but it is very tricky to make these crosette stars. Making crosette stars is a delicate and hard process, a crosette star pump must be used. When you pump a composition with this star pump, it makes a pumped star with a deep cross implement in it. This cross must be filled with an ideal flash powder, because if the flash powder is too powerful, it will simply blow the whole star into bits. If the flash powder is too weak it will just burn out the star or make a sloppy split. When the cross implement is filled with perfect flash powder, a cardboard disc is glued on. Then the stars must be loaded with the cardboard side facing outwards in the shell and the non-cardboard side should face inward. Crosette stars are a trade mark of the experienced pyrotechnician.
